Cubism is well, the use of cubes or other basic shapes in art. Cubism is known as the most influential period of art in the 20th century, as it led to many branches of incredible abstract art based off of the styles used by Cubists. Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso were some of the founding artists of this movement and are among it's most remembered. "The Cubism Stud by Debi Payne." Fine Art America. "Animationbegins." The next work is "Maya With Her Doll" by the famous Pablo Picasso. This painting depicts how Cubists tried to differ from the previous periods where the human body had been idealized and flawless. Cubist art with people in it generally portrayed them as deformed or misaligned. Cite: "Maya with Her Doll, 1938 by Pablo Picasso." Maya with Her Doll, 1938 by Pablo Picasso. Picasso, n.d. This piece is "Kittygarden" by Alma Lee. I'll be dead honest I have no clue how this even resembles a cat. But somewhere, in her mind she painted this and saw a cat. I guess that is reason enough to paint this painting. Cubism is not that impressive. Cite: "Contemporary Cubism Art Gallery." Contemporary Cubism Art Gallery. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Apr. 2015.
This is a pretty nice Cubist piece of Batman. Cubism is one of the few art periods that really has lasted all the way into the Modern Era and is still relevant today actually. Cite: "The Cubism Stud by Debi Payne." Fine Art America. ArtAmerica, n.d. Web. 25 Apr. 2015.
NOW THIS! This is quite interesting. Ok, so supposedly someone is attempting to use Cubist art to represent their opinion on the differences between iOS6 and iOS7. I feel like this needs to be put here because I cannot even begin to comprehend the meaning behind this work. Cite: "All About Me! "10 A Day Art Challenge"" Art for Kids! N.p., n.d. This is "Ceron" by Jorge Moreno. I mean, its Cubism so for all I know this could be about the struggles of a World War II Europe or something. At least with Neoclassical art or basically any other period that wasn't developed by suicidal maniacs or hipsters you could tell what it meant because they ACTUALLY PAINTED WELL AND GAVE A CLEAR MEANING.
