Romanticism was created to oppose the movement to Industrialize in the world. Romantic artists often believed that by building factories, the world would end, and they painted such scenes of apocalypse but at the same time focused on the true beauty of life (while they had it). This first piece is "The Raft of the Medusa" by Gericault. Garicault believed that the end of days was upon the human race. Of course he was French so everyone thought he was crazy which he probably was. Cite: "The Raft of the Medusa: Bad Days Are Here to Stay." The Starving Art Historian. This next piece is one of my personal favorite pieces of art. It is "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" by Casper David Fredrich. This painting represents the "higher man" looking over the fogs of life and industrialization. He has ascended past the human race and can see the light of romanticism. This next work is "Combat of Giaour and Hassan" by John Constable. Constable enjoyed bringing light to the history of the Middle East and he enjoyed painting scenes from their battles and affairs. This next work, well it's odd. It is Fransisco de la Goya's "Saturn" and its quite bizzare. He was a bizzare man to begin with but this, this is just out of this world. It is suppose to represent humanity being devoured by the machine age. Cite: "ArtLex on Romanticism." ArtLex on Romanticism. Artlex, n.d. Web. 23 Apr. 2015.
I have chose the next painting because it is different in a well, different way. It does not have a name. It was a painting that Casper David Fredrich painted later in his life, but it is untitled. This work is a portrait of Casper David Fredrich. Many aspiring artists looked up to him as a mentor and were fascinated with his painting of one person gazing at a beautiful background.

Neuschwanstein is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Located in Germany, this castle is often referred to as the "Cinderella" castle because it resembles the fairy tail style architecture. Cite: "Romantic Intentions." BurasWorkS. Intentions, n.d. Web. 23 Apr. 2015.
